THE GUIDE COMPANY
A Company should consist of no fewer than two patrols, with a Captain and preferably at least one Lieutenant. If the company should exceed forty, they should register an additional Company with a correct component of officer.

THE PATROL
The Patrol is the unit for all work and play. It consists of not more than eight girls, including the Patrol Leader and Second.
Each member wears the emblem of the patrol she belongs to.

THE COMPANY LEADER
A Company Leader may be appointed from members of the COH to assist the Guider.

THE PATROL LEADER
The Patrol Leader is nominated by the Guides and appointed by the Captain. She should have obtained the Guide Silver Award and have been a member of the Company for at least three months. Instructions should be given as much as possible through her.She is responsible for all matters relating to work, play and administration in her patrol. She should, to a great extent, be the channel of communication between the Captain and her Guides. She should have special opportunities of access to her Captain, either at her home, or at leaders' meetings held at regular intervals for the purpose of special training.

THE PATROL SECOND
The Patrol Second is chosen by the Patrol Leader to be her assistant and to take command of the patrol in her absence. The Second may represent the Leader at the Court of Honour.
The Guide Sign
The Guide Sign is given when a Girl Guide is in uniform and when she recites the Guide Promise or as a greeting to other Guides. Guides also give the sign when they are in mufti (civilian clothes) but the Trefoil or the World Badge is either woven or pinned on the clothing they are wearing.The sign is made by raising your right hand to shoulder level, palm to facing outwards, thumb pressing down the little finger with three fingers pointing upwards. The three fingers represent the Three-Fold Promise.

The Guide Salute
The Guide Salute is given by enrolled members in full uniform as a sign of respect:

1. at the breaking of colours;

2. at an Enrolment Ceremony;

3. at a presentation of awards ceremony;

4. when the World Flag is being carried ceremonially;

5.when greeting members of the Guide and Scout Movements; and

6. when the National Anthem is being played or sung.

The Guide Handshake
The Guide handshake is unique because it is done with the left hand. The left hand is closer to the heart and so this gesture symbolises friendship. When asked to explain the origin, Lord Baden-Powell related how when he was in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti he was met by one of the GreatChiefs of the Ashanti, he saluted them and then offered his right handout as a sign of friendship, but the Chief transferred his shield whichhe held in his left hand to his right which contained his spear andoffered his left hand as a sign of friendship.

A Good Turn
“A Good Turn a Day” – This is one of the golden rules of Guiding all over the world. A Guide offers to do something or to help someone without expecting anything in return - that is considered is a good turn.
