The Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, Belait branch, yesterday held its "1st Get Together" at the PJN Hj Abu Bakar Secondary School.
Attending the sports day were the Girl Guides District Commissioner and her assistant, Dyg Iznina binti Tahir and Dyg Misla binti Abdullah Anja.
The seven schools which participated were PJN Hj Abu Bakar Secondary School, Sayyidina Ali Secondary School, PAP Rashidah in Lumut, Perdana Wazir Secondary School, St James, St Margaret and Paduka SOAS Primary School.
Cikgu Hjh Dyg Umi Kalshom binti OKPSD Abg Haji Hanifah said the main objective of the get-together was for Girl Guides and Brownies to get to know each other, and strengthen ties between the participating schools. Teachers-in-charge saw to it all members were working in unity and harmony and practising all the qualities of being Girl Guides and Brownies.
Cikgu Justina binti Baharum, publicity coordinator, said all the games competed yesterday had teamwork and ensured the main objective was achieved.
Students were introduced to fun activities like 'filling water in a bottle', 'retangle your hands', 'treasure hunt according to alphabets' and 'designing clothes using newspapers'.
The Girl Guides and Brownies sang the Girl Guide song, and had a horseshoe and Brownie ring march rehearsal. A mini-futsal game was refereed by Dayang Iznina.
The Girl Guides organised a cleaning campaign as a community service.
